PATHWAY TO LICENSING

Interested in being licensed with the Texas District UPCI? Here is the Pathway to Licensing:


 
1. Determine which level of licensing you are applying for. 
 
LOCAL LICENSE
A local license is the first level of the ministerial licensing process.
 
GENERAL LICENSE
A general license is the second level of the ministerial licensing process.
 
ORDINATION
Ordination is the third and final level of the ministerial licensing process. It is the fulfillment of the scriptural process of recognition, endorsement, and anointing.

LOCAL LICENSE
A local license is the first level of the ministerial licensing process.
 
Privileges
1. A subscription to the Pentecostal Herald
2. A subscription to the Forward Magazine
3. A life insurance package
4. Performing funeral ceremonies
 
General Requirements
1. Applicant must be seventeen (17) years of age or older
2. Applicant must believe in the Oneness of God
3. Applicant must have been baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ
4. Applicant must have been baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues
5. Applicant must be living a holy life according to the Scriptures as explained in the Articles of Faith of the United Pentecostal Church International
 
Ministry Central Training
Licensing applicants must complete required training provided through Ministry Central. Click here to register for your required training.
 
GENERAL LICENSE
A local license is the second level of the ministerial licensing process.
 
Privileges
1. A subscription to the Pentecostal Herald
2. A subscription to the Forward Magazine
3. A life insurance package
4. Performing funeral ceremonies
5. Performing wedding ceremonies
6. Performing practically all duties and responsibilities of the ministry
 
General Requirements
1. Applicant must be seventeen (17) years of age or older
2. Applicant must believe in the Oneness of God
3. Applicant must have been baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ
4. Applicant must have been baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues
5. Applicant must be living a holy life according to the Scriptures as explained in the Articles of Faith of the United Pentecostal Church International
6. Applicant must have proven their ministry for one (1) year
7. Applicant who is not a graduate from a UPCI-endorsed school must have held a local license for at least one (1) year*
8. Applicant must be engaged at present in the ministry as a pastor, full-time evangelist, assistant pastor, elected or appointed official, or full-time Bible college administrator or instructor*
 
*An exception to this may be made by the District Board for those who have graduated theological or pastoral degree programs from a school endorsed by the United Pentecostal Church International; the Board may grant him or her a general or local license at their discretion until the year of 2021, at which time this exception will be abolished.
 
Ministry Central Training
Licensing applicants must complete required training provided through Ministry Central. Click here to register for your required training.
 
ORDINATION

Privileges

4. Performing funeral ceremonies
5. Performing wedding ceremonies
6. Performing practically all duties and responsibilities of the ministry
7. The possibility of holding office
 
General Requirements
1. Applicant must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
2. Applicant must believe in the Oneness of God
3. Applicant must have been baptized by immersion in the name of Jesus Christ
4. Applicant must have been baptized with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues
5. Applicant must be living a holy life according to the Scriptures as explained in the Articles of Faith of the United Pentecostal Church International
6. Applicant must have held a general license for at least two (2) years.
7. Applicant must have proven their ministry for two (2) consecutive years
8. Applicant must at present be a pastor, full-time evangelist, assistant pastor, appointed or elected official, full-time Bible college administrator or instructor
9. Any exceptions to the above would be at the discretion of the District Board
 
Ministry Central Training
Licensing applicants must complete required training provided through Ministry Central. Click here to register for your required training.
 
3. Complete all components of the application packet.
 
ALL LEVELS
1. Application (Please download the application for the level you are pursuing.)
TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION: 
a. Answer every question fully, leave nothing blank. 
b. Do not use a generic digital signature. Sign each document. 
c. Be sure to have your pastor or another ordained minister sign your application. This is also a requirement of Pastor’s upgrading your license level.
2. The Application Fee of $75.00 (Payable via check or money order)
3. A recent photo of you and, if applicable, your spouse
4. Insurance Form (Please complete this form even if you have previously submitted it with a local or general license.)
5. Ministry Central Transcript or Certificates of Completion for each required class
 
LOCAL LICENSE
1. Complete all steps listed under the “all levels” section.
2. The quarterly Budget Fee of $93.50 (Payable via check or money order)
3. A current copy of your credit report from a national credit agency (you can request a free one from many places online.) This is required for all new applicants for licensing in TXD.
4.Submit your application sixty days prior to the board meeting.

5. Communicate with our office staff and make arrangements to meet the board. Check the District Calendar for District Board Meetings
